حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا يَأْجُوجُ وَمَأْجُوجُ وَهُم مِّن ﴿٩٦﴾

Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend

زمانی که راه یأجوج و مأجوج گشوده شود

در بارة یأجوج و مأجوج» ذیل أَیة ۹۴ سورة کهف توضیح داده شد. در مورد این که منظور از گشوده شدن راه این دو طایفه» شکسته شدن سد آنها و نفوذشان از این طریق در مناطق دیگر جهان است یا نفوذ آنها در کرهٌ زمین از هر سو و ناحیه» این آیه به صراحت سخن نگفته و تنها از انتشار و پراکندگی آنها در کرة زمین به مثابه یک نشانه برای پایان جهان و مقدمةٌ رستاخیز و قیامت یاد کرده است. در آیات ‎٩۷‏ و ۹۸ سورةٌ کهف پس از ذکر ماجرای ذوالقرنین و بستن سد بر یأجوج و مأجوج آمده است که او چنان سد نیرومندی ساخت که طایفةٌ یأجوج و مأجوج قادر نبودند از آن بالا روند و نیز نمی‌توانستند نقبی در آن ایجاد کنند.
