Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are the deaf and dumb who do not use reason.

این آیه با صراحت می‌گوید که دعوت اسلام» دعوت به سوی حیات و زندگی است؛ حیات معنوی» حیات مادی» حیات فرهنگی» حیات اقتصادی» حیات سیاسی» حیات اخلاقی» حیات اجتماعی و...این تعبیر» کوتاه‌ترین و جامع‌ترین تعبیری است که در بارةٌ اسلام و آیین حق آمده است. اگر کسی بپرسد هدف اسلام چیست و چه چیز می‌تواند به ما بدهد, در یک جملةٌ کوتاه می‌گوییم: هدف اسلام» حیات و زندگی در تمام زمینه‌هاست. البته حیات و زندگی معانی گوناگونی دارد: حیات گیاهی» حیات حیوانی» حیات فکری و عقلانی» حیات جاودان در جهان دیگر و حیات خداوند حی و قیّوم که علم و توانایی بی‌حد و انتهای خداوند است. با توجه به این درجات از حیات و زندگی» روشن می‌شود که مردم عصر جاهلی گرچه زندگی مادی و حیوانی داشتند. از زندگی انسانی و معنوی و عقلانی محروم بودند.قرآن آمد و آنها را به حیات و زندگی انسانی و المی دعوت کرد.
