Sukūn & shadda ٱلسُّكُون وَٱلشَّدَّة

A letter with sukūn carries no vowel — you land on it closed, but you still pronounce it. A letter with shadda is pronounced twice: a sākin one leaning into a voiced one. These two states are the triggers for nearly every contact rule ahead, so we drill spotting them first.
