Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant

Indeed, it was they who, when they were told, ‘There is no god except Allah,’ used to be disdainful,

For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful

For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride,

for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud,

زیرا آنان چنین بودند که هر زمان به آنان می گفتند: معبودی جز خدا نیست، تکبّر می کردند،

چرا که آنان بودند که وقتی به ایشان گفته می‌شد: «خدایی جز خدای یگانه نیست»، تکبر می‌ورزیدند!

Onlara: "Allah'tan başka tanrı yoktur" denildiği zaman şüphesiz büyüklenirler.

Sesungguhnya mereka dahulu apabila dikatakan kepada mereka: "Laa ilaaha illallah" (Tiada Tuhan yang berhak disembah melainkan Allah) mereka menyombongkan diri,

ان سے جب کہا جاتا تھا کہ اللہ کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے تو اکڑ جاتے تھے

তাদের যখন বলা হত, আল্লাহ ব্যতীত কোন উপাস্য েনই, তখন তারা ঔদ্ধত্য প্রদর্শন করত।
