So when they had despaired of him, they secluded themselves in private consultation. The eldest of them said, "Do you not know that your father has taken upon you an oath by Allah and [that] before you failed in [your duty to] Joseph? So I will never leave [this] land until my father permits me or Allah decides for me, and He is the best of judges.

When they had despaired of [moving] him, they withdrew to confer privately. The eldest of them said, ‘Don’t you know that your father has taken a [solemn] pledge from you by Allah, and earlier you have neglected your duty in regard to Joseph? So I will never leave this land until my father permits me, or Allah passes a judgement for me, and He is the best of judges.

So, When they despaired of (moving) him, they conferred together apart. The eldest of them said: Know ye not how your father took an undertaking from you in Allah's name and how ye failed in the case of Joseph aforetime? Therefore I shall not go forth from the land until my father giveth leave or Allah judgeth for me. He is the Best of Judges.

Now when they saw no hope of his (yielding), they held a conference in private. The leader among them said: "Know ye not that your father did take an oath from you in Allah's name, and how, before this, ye did fail in your duty with Joseph? Therefore will I not leave this land until my father permits me, or Allah commands me; and He is the best to command.

When they despaired of moving him, they conferred privily apart. Said the eldest of them, 'Do you not know how your father has taken a solemn pledge from you by God, and aforetime you failed regarding Joseph? Never will I quit this land, until my father gives me leave, or God judges in my favour; He is the best of judges.

پس هنگامی که از عزیز مأیوس شدند، در کناری [با یکدیگر] به گفتگوی پنهان پرداختند. بزرگشان گفت: آیا ندانستید که پدرتان از شما پیمان استوار خدایی گرفت و پیش تر هم درباره یوسف کوتاهی کردید، بنابراین من هرگز از این سرزمین بیرون نمی آیم تا پدرم به من اجازه دهد، یا خدا درباره من حکم کند؛ و او بهترین حکم کنندگان است.

پس چون از او نومید شدند، رازگویان کنار کشیدند. بزرگشان گفت: «مگر نمی‌دانید که پدرتان با نام خدا پیمانی استوار از شما گرفته است و قبلا [هم‌] در باره یوسف تقصیر کردید؟ هرگز از این سرزمین نمی‌روم تا پدرم به من اجازه دهد یا خدا در حق من داوری کند، و او بهترین داوران است.

Ümidsizliğe düşünce, konuşmak üzere bir kenara çekildiler. Büyükleri şöyle dedi: "Babanızın Allah'a karşı sizden bir söz aldığını, daha önce Yusuf meselesinde de ileri gittiğinizi bilmiyor musunuz? Artık babam bana izin verene veya Allah hakkımda hüküm verene kadar ki O, hükmedenlerin en iyisidir bu yerden ayrılmayacağım. Siz dönün, babanıza gidin ve deyin ki: Ey Babamız! Senin oğlun hırsızlık yaptı, bu bildiğimizden başka bir şey görmedik; görülmeyeni de bilmeyiz; bulunduğumuz kasabanın halkına ve beraberinde olduğumuz kervana da sorabilirsin; biz şüphesiz doğru söylüyoruz."

Maka tatkala mereka berputus asa dari pada (putusan) Yusuf mereka menyendiri sambil berunding dengan berbisik-bisik. Berkatalah yang tertua diantara mereka: "Tidakkah kamu ketahui bahwa sesungguhnya ayahmu telah mengambil janji dari kamu dengan nama Allah dan sebelum itu kamu telah menyia-nyiakan Yusuf. Sebab itu aku tidak akan meninggalkan negeri Mesir, sampai ayahku mengizinkan kepadaku (untuk kembali), atau Allah memberi keputusan terhadapku. Dan Dia adalah Hakim yang sebaik-baiknya".

اب جب وہ لوگ یوسف کی طرف سے مایوس ہوگئے تو الگ جاکر مشورہ کرنے لگے تو سب سے بڑے نے کہا کہ کیا تمہیں نہیں معلوم کہ تمہارے باپ نے تم سے خدائی عہد لیا ہے اور اس سے پہلے بھی تم یوسف کے بارے میں کوتاہی کرحُکے ہو تو اب میں تو اس سرزمین کو نہ چھوڑوں گا یہاں تک کہ والد محترم اجازت دے دیں یا خدا میرے حق میں کوئی فیصلہ کردے کہ وہ بہترین فیصلہ کرنے والا ہے

অতঃপর যখন তারা তাঁর কাছ থেকে নিরাশ হয়ে গেল, তখন পরামর্শের জন্যে এখানে বসল। তাদের জ্যেষ্ঠ ভাই বললঃ তোমরা কি জান না যে, পিতা তোমাদের কাছ থেকে আল্লাহর নামে অঙ্গীকার নিয়েছেন এবং পূর্বে ইউসুফের ব্যাপারেও তোমরা অন্যায় করেছো? অতএব আমি তো কিছুতেই এদেশ ত্যাগ করব না, যে পর্যন্ত না পিতা আমাকে আদেশ দেন অথবা আল্লাহ আমার পক্ষে কোন ব্যবস্থা করে দেন। তিনিই সর্বোত্তম ব্যবস্থাপক।
