Say, [O Muhammad], "Shall we [believers] inform you of the greatest losers as to [their] deeds?

زیانکارترین مردم

بسیار می‌بینیم که انسان گاه کار خلافی انجام می‌دهد که فکر می‌کند کار خوب و مهمی بوده است. چنین جهل مرکّبی ممکن است یک لحظه یا یک سال یا حتی یک عمر ادامه یایده و راستی که بدبختی‌ای از این بزرگ‌تر تصور نمی‌شود. اگر می‌بینیم قرآن چنین کسانی را زیانکارترین مردم نام نهاده, دلیلش روشن است: کسانی که مرتکب گناهی می‌شوند» اما می‌دانند خلافکارندء غالباً حد و مرزی برای خلافکاری خود قرار می‌دهند و بسیار می‌شود که به خود می‌آیند و برای جبران آن به سراغ توبه و اعمال صالح می‌روند؛ اما آنها که گنهکارند و در عین حال» گناهشان را عبادتء اعمال بدشان را نیکوکاری و کزی‌ها را درستی می‌پندارند» نه تنها درصدد جبران نیستندء بلکه با شدت هرچه تمام‌تر به کار خود ادامه می‌دهند. قرآن این تعبیر جالب توجه را برای آنها به کار برده است: «اخسرین اعمالاً». در روایات» مصادیق روشنی برای این تعبیر ذکر شده که سزاوار تأمل است. در برخی از روایات» مردان و زنان تارک دنیاء از مصادیق این آیه شمرده شده‌اند؛ چرا که آنها عمری را در گوشة دیرها سپری می‌کنند و خود را از لذات حلال زندگی محروم می‌نمایند و این محرومیت‌ها را سبب قرب خود به خدا می‌دانند. در بعضی دیگر از روایات» «خوارج نهروان»» یکی از مصادیق این یه ذکر شده‌اند؛ آن جمعیت قشری و بی‌مغز و نادان که بزرگ‌ترین گناهان همچون کشتن علی(ع) را موجب تقرب به خدا می‌دانستند و بهشت را در انحصار خود فرض می‌کردند. آری» تعصب‌های شدیدء غرور و تکبرء خودمحوری و خودخواهی و دنیاپرستی» از مهم‌ترین عوامل پیدایش این‌گونه پندارهای غلط است.
