What this number does not mean
A count is a fact about form. It says how often a set of letters occurs — not how important the idea is, not that the total was designed, and not that it lines up with anything outside the text. Frequency is not guidance: the most common root in the Qurʾān need not be the weightiest, and some of the weightiest are rare.
Counts of this kind are often quoted as evidence of a numerical miracle — usually by picking a counting rule that produces the wanted total and not mentioning that another rule produces a different one. We publish the rule precisely so that cannot happen here. If a claimed count disagrees with this page, the useful question is not who is right but which edition, which morphology, and which unit each side used.
