And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has revealed," they say, "Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers doing." Even though their fathers understood nothing, nor were they guided?

When they are told, ‘Follow what Allah has sent down,’ they say, ‘No, We will follow what we have found our fathers following.’ What, even if their fathers neither exercised their reason nor were guided?!

And when it is said unto them: Follow that which Allah hath revealed, they say: We follow that wherein we found our fathers. What! Even though their fathers were wholly unintelligent and had no guidance?

When it is said to them: "Follow what Allah hath revealed:" They say: "Nay! we shall follow the ways of our fathers." What! even though their fathers Were void of wisdom and guidance?

And when it is said to them, 'Follow what God has sent down,' they say, 'No; but we will follow such things as we found our fathers doing.' What? And if their fathers had no understanding of anything, and if they were not guided?

و هنگامی که به آنان [که مشرک و کافرند] گویند: از آنچه خدا نازل کرده پیروی کنید، می گویند: نه، بلکه از آیینی که پدرانمان را بر آن یافتیم، پیروی می کنیم. آیا هر چند پدرانشان چیزی نمی فهمیدند و راه [حق را به سبب کوردلی] نمی یافتند [باز هم کورکورانه از آنان پیروی خواهند کرد؟!]

و چون به آنان گفته شود: «از آنچه خدا نازل کرده است پیروی کنید»؛ می‌گویند: «نه، بلکه از چیزی که پدران خود را بر آن یافته‌ایم، پیروی می‌کنیم.» آیا هر چند پدرانشان چیزی را درک نمی‌کرده و به راه صواب نمی‌رفته‌اند [باز هم در خور پیروی هستند]؟

Onlara: "Allah'ın indirdiğine uyun" denilince, "Hayır, atalarımızı yapar bulduğumuz şeye uyarız" derler; ya ataları bir şey akledemeyen ve doğru olmayan kimseler idiyseler?

Dan apabila dikatakan kepada mereka: "Ikutilah apa yang telah diturunkan Allah," mereka menjawab: "(Tidak), tetapi kami hanya mengikuti apa yang telah kami dapati dari (perbuatan) nenek moyang kami". "(Apakah mereka akan mengikuti juga), walaupun nenek moyang mereka itu tidak mengetahui suatu apapun, dan tidak mendapat petunjuk?".

جب ان سے کہاجاتا ہے کہ جو کچھ خدا نے نازل کیا ہے اس کا اتباع کرو تو کہتے ہیں کہ ہم اس کا اتباع کریں گے جس پر ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کوپایا ہے. کیا یہ ایسا ہی کریں گے چاہے ان کے باپ دادا بے عقل ہی رہے ہوں اورہدایت یافتہ نہ رہے ہوں

আর যখন তাদেরকে কেউ বলে যে, সে হুকুমেরই আনুগত্য কর যা আল্লাহ তা’আলা নাযিল করেছেন, তখন তারা বলে কখনো না, আমরা তো সে বিষয়েরই অনুসরণ করব। যাতে আমরা আমাদের বাপ-দাদাদেরকে দেখেছি। যদি ও তাদের বাপ দাদারা কিছুই জানতো না, জানতো না সরল পথও।
