And [recall] when you said, "O Moses, we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions." [Moses] said, "Would you exchange what is better for what is less? Go into [any] settlement and indeed, you will have what you have asked." And they were covered with humiliation and poverty and returned with anger from Allah [upon them]. That was because they [repeatedly] disbelieved in the signs of Allah and killed the prophets without right. That was because they disobeyed and were [habitually] transgressing.

And when you said, ‘O Moses, ‘We will not put up with one kind of food. So invoke your Lord for us, so that He may bring forth for us of that which the earth grows—its greens and cucumbers, its garlic, lentils, and onions.’ He said, ‘Do you seek to replace what is superior with that which is inferior? Go down to any town and you will indeed get what you ask for!’ So they were struck with abasement and poverty, and they earned Allah’s wrath. That, because they would deny the signs of Allah and kill the prophets unjustly. That, because they would disobey and commit transgressions.

And when ye said: O Moses! We are weary of one kind of food; so call upon thy Lord for us that He bring forth for us of that which the earth groweth - of its herbs and its cucumbers and its corn and its lentils and its onions. He said: Would ye exchange that which is higher for that which is lower? Go down to settled country, thus ye shall get that which ye demand. And humiliation and wretchedness were stamped upon them and they were visited with wrath from Allah. That was because they disbelieved in Allah's revelations and slew the prophets wrongfully. That was for their disobedience and transgression.

And remember ye said: "O Moses! we cannot endure one kind of food (always); so beseech thy Lord for us to produce for us of what the earth groweth, -its pot-herbs, and cucumbers, Its garlic, lentils, and onions." He said: "Will ye exchange the better for the worse? Go ye down to any town, and ye shall find what ye want!" They were covered with humiliation and misery; they drew on themselves the wrath of Allah. This because they went on rejecting the Signs of Allah and slaying His Messengers without just cause. This because they rebelled and went on transgressing.

And when you said, 'Moses, we will not endure one sort of food; pray to thy Lord for us, that He may bring forth for us of that the earth produces - green herbs, cucumbers, corn, lentils, onions.' He said, 'Would you have in exchange what is meaner for what is better? Get you down to Egypt; you shall have there that you demanded.' And abasement and poverty were pitched upon them, and they were laden with the burden of God's anger; that, because they had disbelieved the signs of God and slain the Prophets unrightfully; that, because they disobeyed, and were transgressors.

و [یاد کنید] هنگامی که گفتید: ای موسی! ما هرگز بر یک نوع غذا صبر نمی کنیم، پس از پروردگارت بخواه تا از آنچه زمین می رویاند از سبزی و خیار و سیر و عدس و پیازش را برای ما آماده کند. [موسی] گفت: آیا شما به جای غذای بهتر، غذای پست تر را می خواهید؟! [اکنون که چنین درخواست ناروایی دارید] به شهری فرود آیید که آنچه خواستید، برای شما آماده است. و [داغِ] خواری و بیچارگی و نیاز بر آنان زده شد و سزاوار خشم خدا شدند؛ این [خواری و خشم] به سبب آن بود که آنان همواره به آیات خدا کفر می ورزیدند و پیامبران را به ناحق می کشتند؛ این [کفرورزی و کشتن پیامبران] به علت آن بود که [از فرمانِ من] سرپیچی نمودند و پیوسته [از حدود حق] تجاوز می کردند.

و چون گفتید: «ای موسی! هرگز بر یک [نوع‌] خوراک تاب نیاوریم، از خدای خود برای ما بخواه تا از آنچه زمین می‌رویاند، از [قبیل‌] سبزی و خیار و سیر و عدس و پیاز، برای ما برویاند» [موسی‌] گفت: «آیا به جای چیز بهتر، خواهان چیز پست‌ترید؟ پس به شهر فرود آیید، که آنچه را خواسته‌اید برای شما [در آنجا مهیا]ست.» و [داغ‌] خواری و ناداری بر [پیشانی‌] آنان زده شد، و به خشم خدا گرفتار آمدند؛ چرا که آنان به نشانه‌های خدا کفر ورزیده بودند، و پیامبران را بناحق می‌کشتند؛ این، از آن روی بود که سرکشی نموده، و از حد درگذرانیده بودند.

"Ey Musa! Bir çeşit yemeğe dayanamayacağız, bizim için Rabbine yalvar, bize, yerin bitirdiği sebze, hıyar, sarımsak, mercimek ve soğan yetiştirsin" demiştiniz de, "Hayırlı olanı daha düşük şeyle mi değiştirmek istiyorsunuz? Bir şehre inin, şüphesiz orada istediğiniz vardır" demişti. Onlara yoksulluk ve düşkünlük damgası vuruldu, Allah'ın gazabına uğradılar. Bu, Allah'ın ayetlerini inkar etmeleri ve haksız yere peygamberleri öldürmelerindendi; bu, karşı gelmeleri ve taşkınlık yapmalarındandı.

Dan (ingatlah), ketika kamu berkata: "Hai Musa, kami tidak bisa sabar (tahan) dengan satu macam makanan saja. Sebab itu mohonkanlah untuk kami kepada Tuhanmu, agar Dia mengeluarkan bagi kami dari apa yang ditumbuhkan bumi, yaitu sayur-mayurnya, ketimunnya, bawang putihnya, kacang adasnya, dan bawang merahnya". Musa berkata: "Maukah kamu mengambil yang rendah sebagai pengganti yang lebih baik? Pergilah kamu ke suatu kota, pasti kamu memperoleh apa yang kamu minta". Lalu ditimpahkanlah kepada mereka nista dan kehinaan, serta mereka mendapat kemurkaan dari Allah. Hal itu (terjadi) karena mereka selalu mengingkari ayat-ayat Allah dan membunuh para Nabi yang memang tidak dibenarkan. Demikian itu (terjadi) karena mereka selalu berbuat durhaka dan melampaui batas.

اور وہ وقت بھی یادکرو جب تم نے موسٰی علیھ السّلام سے کہا کہ ہم ایک قسم کے کھانے پر صبر نہیں کرسکتے. آپ پروردگار سے دعا کیجئے کہ ہمارے لئے زمین سے سبزیً ککڑیً لہسنً مسوراور پیاز وغیرہ پیدا کرے. موسٰی علیھ السّلام نے تمہیں سمجھایا کہ کیا بہترین نعمتوں کے بدلے معمولی نعمت لینا چاہتے ہو تو جاؤ کسی شہر میں اتر پڑو وہاں یہ سب کچھ مل جائے گا. اب ان پر ذلّت اور محتاجی کی مار پڑ گئی اور وہ غضب الٰہی میں گرفتار ہوگئے. یہ سب اس لئے ہوا کہ یہ لوگ آیات الٰہی کا انکار کرتے تھے اور ناحق انبیائ خدا کو قتل کردیا کرتے تھے. اس لئے کہ یہ سب نافرمان تھے اور ظلم کیا کرتے تھے

আর তোমরা যখন বললে, হে মূসা, আমরা একই ধরনের খাদ্য-দ্রব্যে কখনও ধৈর্য্যধারণ করব না। কাজেই তুমি তোমার পালনকর্তার নিকট আমাদের পক্ষে প্রার্থনা কর, তিনি যেন আমাদের জন্যে এমন বস্তুসামগ্রী দান করেন যা জমিতে উৎপন্ন হয়, তরকারী, কাকড়ী, গম, মসুরি, পেঁয়াজ প্রভৃতি। মূসা (আঃ) বললেন, তোমরা কি এমন বস্তু নিতে চাও যা নিকৃষ্ট সে বস্তুর পরিবর্তে যা উত্তম? তোমরা কোন নগরীতে উপনীত হও, তাহলেই পাবে যা তোমরা কামনা করছ। আর তাদের উপর আরোপ করা হল লাঞ্ছনা ও পরমুখাপেক্ষিতা। তারা আল্লাহর রোষানলে পতিত হয়ে ঘুরতে থাকল। এমন হলো এ জন্য যে, তারা আল্লাহর বিধি বিধান মানতো না এবং নবীগনকে অন্যায়ভাবে হত্যা করত। তার কারণ, তারা ছিল নাফরমান সীমালংঘকারী।
