They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware.

ظاهربینان و موحدان؛ دو نقطةٌ متقابل

اصولاً بینش یک انسان موّمن و الهی با یک فرد مادی یا مشرک تفاوت بسیار دارد. اولی» طبق عقیدةٌ توحیدی» جهان را مخلوق خداوند حکیمی می‌داند که تمام افعالش روی حساب و برنامه است و به همین دلیل معتقد است که جهان» مجموعه‌ای از اسرار و رموز دقیق است» هیچ چیز در این عالم ساده نیست و همةٌ کلمات این کتاب» پرمحتوا و پرمعنی است و همه مخلوقات» نشانه‌ای از خالق دانا هستند؛ در حالی که یک فرد مادی و بی‌ایمان» دنیا را مجموعه‌ای از حوادث کور و کر و بی‌هدف می‌شمرد و جز به ظاهر آن نمی‌اندیشد و برای آن باطن و عمقی قائّل نیست. مگر می‌توان برای کتابی که خطوط آن را کودکی با حرکات بی‌هدف دست خود بر روی کاغذ کشیده» اهمیت و عمقی قائّل شد؟ از سوی دیگر چگونه ممکن است کسی که این دنیا را مرحلةٌ نهایی و هدف اصلی می‌شمرد مثل کسی ببیند و بیندیشد که آن را میدان آزمودن برای زندگی جاودانی می‌داند؟ او از ان ظاهری بیش نمی‌بیند و این به اعماق ژرفش می‌اندیشد. این اختلاف دیده‌ها در تمام زندگی آنها اثر می‌گذارد: آن ظاهربین» انفاق را سبب خسران و زیان می‌شمرد؛ در حالی که این موحدء تجارتی پرسود می‌داند. آن یکی» رباخواری را مایة افزایش درامد می‌داند و این یکی مایة وبال و بدبختی و زیان. آن یکی» جهاد را مایةٌ دردسرء و شهادت را به معنای نابودی و این یکی» جهاد را رمز سربلندی و شهادت را حیات جاویدان می‌شمرد. آری» افراد بی‌ایمان» تنها ظاهری از زندگی دنیا را می‌بینند و از آخرت غافل‌اند.
