أَلَمْ إِلَى ٱلَّذِى إِبْرَٰهِـۧمَ فِى أَنْ إِذْ إِبْرَٰهِـۧمُ ٱلَّذِى أَنَا۠ إِبْرَٰهِـۧمُ فَإِنَّ مِنَ بِهَا مِنَ ٱلَّذِى لَا ﴿٢٥٨﴾

Translation

Saheeh International

Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord [merely] because Allah had given him kingship? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

آگاهی پیامبر(ص) از گذشته و آینده

مطالب این آیه در باره بحث و گفت‌وگوی نمرود با حضرت ابراهیم(ع) است. برخی از مفسران در تفسیر این جمله از آیه که می‌فرماید «آیا ندیدی و علم نداری؟» گفته‌اند که علم پیامبر(ص) فراتر از زمان زندگی دنیایی ایشان بوده و ایشان به خواست خدا از گذشته و آینده خبر داشته‌اند. به همین جهت» خداوند به پیامبرش می‌فرماید: «آیا ندیدی؟» یعنی پیامبر(ص) از ماجرای ابراهیم(ع) و نمرود خبر داشته و گویی آن را دیده بوده است.

    And his people argued with him. He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me? And I fear not what you associate with Him [and will not be harmed] unless…

  • أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ

    Have you seen if he denies and turns away -

  • قَالَ أَفَتَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَضُرُّكُمْ

    He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you?

  • يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِمَ تُحَآجُّونَ فِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَتِ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ وَٱلْإِنجِيلُ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦٓ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

    O People of the Scripture, why do you argue about Abraham while the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Then will you not reason?

  • وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ دِينًا مِّمَّنْ أَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهُۥ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ وَٱتَّبَعَ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفًا وَٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ خَلِيلًا

    And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good and follows the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth? And Allah took Abraham…
