وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا عَلَيْهِ ﴿١٦﴾

Translation

Saheeh International

But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."

    So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help."

  • قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ

    He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?"

  • وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ

    And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.

  • وَأُحِيطَ بِثَمَرِهِۦ فَأَصْبَحَ يُقَلِّبُ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَنفَقَ فِيهَا وَهِىَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا وَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُشْرِكْ بِرَبِّىٓ أَحَدًا

    And his fruits were encompassed [by ruin], so he began to turn his hands about [in dismay] over what he had spent on it, while it had collapsed upon its trellises, and said, "Oh…
