17

عَلَيْكَ أَنْ لَّا عَلَىَّ بَلِ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ إِن ﴿١٧﴾

Translation

Saheeh International

They consider it a favor to you that they have accepted Islam. Say, "Do not consider your Islam a favor to me. Rather, Allah has conferred favor upon you that He has guided you to the faith, if you should be truthful."

    So by mercy from Allah, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them…
