54

وَإِذْ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّكُمْ إِلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُمْ لَّكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ﴿٥٤﴾

Translation

Saheeh International

And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "O my people, indeed you have wronged yourselves by your taking of the calf [for worship]. So repent to your Creator and kill yourselves. That is best for [all of] you in the sight of your Creator." Then He accepted your repentance; indeed, He is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.

قرآن حکیم (شرح آیات منتخب)

مجازات شدید گوساله پرستی

در برخی از روایات آمده است که به دستور حضرت موسی(ع)» در صبحگاهی,» هفتاد هزار نفر از گوساله‌پرستان شمشیر کشیدند و شروع به کشتن یکدیگر کردند. ده هزار نفر از آنها کشته شده بودند که حضرت جبرئیل نازل شد و به موسی(ع) فرمود: «به آنها بگو از کشتن دست بردارید که خداوند توبة شما را پذیرفت.» در بارة دلیل چنین مجازات عجیب و سنگینی برای گوساله‌پرستان» بعضی گفته‌اند که علاوه بر این که خود گوسالهپرستی گناه بسیار بزرگی بوده» ارتکاب آن از سوی قومی که آن معجزات و نشانه‌های بسیار عجیب را دیده بودند» زشت‌تر بوده و خداوند چنین مجازات سنگینی را بر آنها مقرر فرمود تا هرگز فکر بت‌پرستی در ذهن آنها خطور نکند.

    The People of the Scripture ask you to bring down to them a book from the heaven. But they had asked of Moses [even] greater than that and said, "Show us Allah outright," so the…

  • وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئْتِ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

    And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -

  • وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُوا۟ بَقَرَةً قَالُوٓا۟ أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ

    And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "Indeed, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow." They said, "Do you take us in ridicule?" He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from being…

  • وَٱخْتَارَ مُوسَىٰ قَوْمَهُۥ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلًا لِّمِيقَٰتِنَا فَلَمَّآ أَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلرَّجْفَةُ قَالَ رَبِّ لَوْ شِئْتَ أَهْلَكْتَهُم مِّن قَبْلُ وَإِيَّٰىَ أَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ مِنَّآ إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا فِتْنَتُكَ تُضِلُّ بِهَا مَن تَشَآءُ وَتَهْدِى مَن تَشَآءُ أَنتَ وَلِيُّنَا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْغَٰفِرِينَ

    And Moses chose from his people seventy men for Our appointment. And when the earthquake seized them, he said, "My Lord, if You had willed, You could have destroyed them before…

  • وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَيْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَأَهُۥ زِينَةً وَأَمْوَٰلًا فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا رَبَّنَا لِيُضِلُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِكَ رَبَّنَا ٱطْمِسْ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَٱشْدُدْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ

    And Moses said, "Our Lord, indeed You have given Pharaoh and his establishment splendor and wealth in the worldly life, our Lord, that they may lead [men] astray from Your way…
