But the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "This is not but a man like yourselves who wishes to take precedence over you; and if Allah had willed [to send a messenger], He would have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our forefathers.

But the elite of the faithless from among his people said, ‘This is just a human being like you, who seeks to dominate you. Had Allah wished, He would have sent down angels. We never heard of such a thing among our forefathers.

But the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved, said: This is only a mortal like you who would make himself superior to you. Had Allah willed, He surely could have sent down angels. We heard not of this in the case of our fathers of old.

The chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: his wish is to assert his superiority over you: if Allah had wished (to send messengers), He could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing (as he says), among our ancestors of old."

Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, 'This is naught but a mortal like yourselves, who desires to gain superiority over you. And if God willed, He would have sent down angels. We never heard of this among, our fathers, the ancients.

پس سران و اشراف قومش که کافر بودند، گفتند: این جز بشری مانند شما نیست که می خواهد بر شما برتری جوید، و اگر خدا می خواست [پیامبری بفرستد] قطعاً فرشتگانی [را به پیامبری] می فرستاد، ما این [سخنانی] را [که نوح می گوید] میان پدران پیشین خود نشنیده ایم.

و اشراف قومش که کافر بودند گفتند: «این [مرد] جز بشری چون شما نیست، می‌خواهد بر شما برتری جوید، و اگر خدا می‌خواست قطعاً فرشتگانی می‌فرستاد. [ما]در میان پدران نخستین خود، چنین [چیزی‌] نشنیده‌ایم.»

Milletinin inkarcı ileri gelenleri: "Bu, sizin gibi bir insandan başka birşey değildir. Sizden üstün olmak istiyor. Allah dilemiş olsaydı melekler indirirdi. İlk atalarımızdan beri böyle birşey işitmedik. Bu adamda nedense biraz delilik var, bir süreye kadar onu gözetleyin" dediler.

Maka pemuka-pemuka orang yang kafir di antara kaumnya menjawab: "Orang ini tidak lain hanyalah manusia seperti kamu, yang bermaksud hendak menjadi seorang yang lebih tinggi dari kamu. Dan kalau Allah menghendaki, tentu Dia mengutus beberapa orang malaikat. Belum pernah kami mendengar (seruan yang seperti) ini pada masa nenek moyang kami yang dahulu.

ان کی قوم کے کافر رؤسائ نے کہا کہ یہ نوح تمہارے ہی جیسے انسان ہیں جو تم پر برتری حاصل کرنا چاہتے ہیں حالانکہ خدا چاہتا تو ملائکہ کو بھی نازل کرسکتا تھا. یہ تو ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا سے کبھی نہیں سنا ہے

তখন তার সম্প্রদায়ের কাফের-প্রধানরা বলেছিলঃ এ তো তোমাদের মতই একজন মানুষ বৈ নয়। সে তোমাদের উপর নেতৃত্ব করতে চায়। আল্লাহ ইচ্ছা করলে ফেরেশতাই নাযিল করতেন। আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মধ্যে এরূপ কথা শুনিনি।
