They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the new moons. Say, "They are measurements of time for the people and for Hajj." And it is not righteousness to enter houses from the back, but righteousness is [in] one who fears Allah. And enter houses from their doors. And fear Allah that you may succeed.

They question you concerning the new moons. Say, ‘They are timekeeping signs for the people and [for the sake of] hajj.’ It is not piety that you enter houses from their rear; rather, piety is [personified by] one who is Godwary, and enter houses from their doors and be wary of Allah, so that you may be felicitous.

They ask thee, (O Muhammad), of new moons, say: They are fixed seasons for mankind and for the pilgrimage. It is not righteousness that ye go to houses by the backs thereof (as do the idolaters at certain seasons), but the righteous man is he who wardeth off (evil). So go to houses by the gates thereof, and observe your duty to Allah, that ye may be successful.

They ask thee concerning the New Moons. Say: They are but signs to mark fixed periods of time in (the affairs of) men, and for Pilgrimage. It is no virtue if ye enter your houses from the back: It is virtue if ye fear Allah. Enter houses through the proper doors: And fear Allah: That ye may prosper.

They will question thee concerning the new moons. Say: 'They are appointed times for the people, and the Pilgrimage.' It is not piety to come to the houses from the backs of them; but piety is to be godfearing; so come to the houses by their doors, and fear God; haply so you will prosper.

از تو درباره هلال های ماه می پرسند، بگو: آنها وسیله تعیین اوقات [برای امور دنیایی و نظام زندگی] مردم و [تعیین زمان مراسم] حج است. و نیکی آن نیست که به خانه ها از پشت آنها وارد شوید، [چنان که اعراب جاهلی در حال احرام حج از پشت دیوار خانه خود وارد می شدند نه از در ورودی] بلکه نیکی [روش و منشِ] کسی است که [از هر گناه و معصیتی] می پرهیزد. و به خانه ها از درهای آنها وارد شوید؛ و از خدا پروا کنید تا رستگار شوید.

در باره [حکمت‌] هلالها[ی ماه‌] از تو می‌پرسند، بگو: «آنها [شاخص‌] گاه‌شماری برای مردم و [موسم‌] حجّ‌اند.» و نیکی آن نیست که از پشت خانه‌ها درآیید، بلکه نیکی آن است که کسی تقوا پیشه کند، و به خانه‌ها از در [ورودی‌] آنها درآیید، و از خدا بترسید، باشد که رستگار گردید.

Sana hilal halindeki ayları sorarlar. De ki: "Onlar, insanların ve hac vakitlerinin ölçüsüdür". Evlere arkalarından girmeniz iyilik değildir; iyi kimse kötülükten sakınan kimsedir. Evlere kapılarından girin; Allah'tan sakının ki muradınıza erersiniz.

Mereka bertanya kepadamu tentang bulan sabit. Katakanlah: "Bulan sabit itu adalah tanda-tanda waktu bagi manusia dan (bagi ibadat) haji; Dan bukanlah kebajikan memasuki rumah-rumah dari belakangnya, akan tetapi kebajikan itu ialah kebajikan orang yang bertakwa. Dan masuklah ke rumah-rumah itu dari pintu-pintunya; dan bertakwalah kepada Allah agar kamu beruntung.

اے پیمبر ےہ لوگ آپ سے چاند کے بارے میں سوال کرتے ہیں تو فرمادیجئے کہ ےہ لوگوں کے لئے اور حج کے لئے وقت معلوم کرنے کا ذریعہ ہے۔اور یہ کوئی نیکی نہیں ہے کہ مکانات میں پچھواڑے کی طرف سے آﺅ،بلکہ نیکی ان کے لئے ہے جو پرہیزگار ہوں اور مکانات میں دروازوں کی طرف سے آئیں اور اللہ سے ڈرو شاید تم کامیاب ہو جاﺅ

তোমার নিকট তারা জিজ্ঞেস করে নতুন চাঁদের বিষয়ে। বলে দাও যে এটি মানুষের জন্য সময় নির্ধারণ এবং হজ্বের সময় ঠিক করার মাধ্যম। আর পেছনের দিক দিয়ে ঘরে প্রবেশ করার মধ্যে কোন নেকী বা কল্যাণ নেই। অবশ্য নেকী হল আল্লাহকে ভয় করার মধ্যে। আর তোমরা ঘরে প্রবেশ কর দরজা দিয়ে এবং আল্লাহকে ভয় করতে থাক যাতে তোমরা নিজেদের বাসনায় কৃতকার্য হতে পার।
