O people, an example is presented, so listen to it. Indeed, those you invoke besides Allah will never create [as much as] a fly, even if they gathered together for that purpose. And if the fly should steal away from them a [tiny] thing, they could not recover it from him. Weak are the pursuer and pursued.

O people! Listen to a parable that is being drawn: Indeed those whom you invoke besides Allah will never create [even] a fly even if they all rallied to do so! And if a fly should take away something from them, they can not recover that from it. Feeble is the seeker and the sought!

O mankind! A similitude is coined, so pay ye heed to it: Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah will never create a fly though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly took something from them, they could not rescue it from it. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought!

O men! Here is a parable set forth! listen to it! Those on whom, besides Allah, ye call, cannot create (even) a fly, if they all met together for the purpose! and if the fly should snatch away anything from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. Feeble are those who petition and those whom they petition!

O men, a similitude is struck; so give you ear to it. Surely those upon whom you call, apart from God, shall never create a fly, though they banded together to do it; and if a fly should rob them of aught, they would never rescue it from him. Feeble indeed alike are the seeker and the sought!

ای مردم! [برای شما و معبودانتان] مَثَلی زده شده است؛ پس به آن گوش فرا دهید، یقیناً کسانی که به جای خدا می پرستید، هرگز نمی توانند مگسی بیافرینند اگر چه برای آفریدن آن گرد آیند و اگر مگس، چیزی را از آنان برباید، نمی توانند آن را از او بازگیرند، هم پرستش کنندگان و هم معبودان ناتوانند.

ای مردم، مَثَلی زده شد. پس بدان گوش فرا دهید: کسانی را که جز خدا می‌خوانید هرگز [حتی‌] مگسی نمی‌آفرینند، هر چند برای [آفریدن‌] آن اجتماع کنند، و اگر آن مگس چیزی از آنان برباید نمی‌توانند آن را بازپس گیرند. طالب و مطلوب هر دو ناتوانند.

Ey insanlar! Bir misal verilmektedir, şimdi onu dinleyin: Sizlerin Allah'ı bırakıp taptıklarınız bir araya gelseler, bir sinek bile yaratamıyacaklardır. Sinek onlardan bir şey kapsa, onu kurtaramazlar; isteyen de, istenen de aciz!

Hai manusia, telah dibuat perumpamaan, maka dengarkanlah olehmu perumpamaan itu. Sesungguhnya segala yang kamu seru selain Allah sekali-kali tidak dapat menciptakan seekor lalatpun, walaupun mereka bersatu menciptakannya. Dan jika lalat itu merampas sesuatu dari mereka, tiadalah mereka dapat merebutnya kembali dari lalat itu. Amat lemahlah yang menyembah dan amat lemah (pulalah) yang disembah.

انسانوں تمہارے لئے ایک مثل بیان کی گئی ہے لہذا اسے غور سے سنو-یہ لوگ جنہیں تم خدا کو چھوڑ کر آواز دیتے ہو یہ سب مل بھی جائیں تو ایک مکھی نہیں پیدا کرسکتے ہیں اور اگر مکھی ان سے کوئی چیز چھین لے تو یہ اس سے چھڑا بھی نہیں سکتے ہیں کہ طالب اور مطلوب دونوں ہی کمزور ہیں

হে লোক সকল! একটি উপমা বর্ণনা করা হলো, অতএব তোমরা তা মনোযোগ দিয়ে শোন; তোমরা আল্লাহর পরিবর্তে যাদের পূজা কর, তারা কখনও একটি মাছি সৃষ্টি করতে পারবে না, যদিও তারা সকলে একত্রিত হয়। আর মাছি যদি তাদের কাছ থেকে কোন কিছু ছিনিয়ে নেয়, তবে তারা তার কাছ থেকে তা উদ্ধার করতে পারবে না, প্রার্থনাকারী ও যার কাছে প্রার্থনা করা হয়, উভয়েই শক্তিহীন।
