  • وَيَدْعُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ بِٱلشَّرِّ دُعَآءَهُۥ بِٱلْخَيْرِ وَكَانَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ عَجُولًا

    And man supplicates for evil as he supplicates for good, and man is ever hasty.

  • وَإِذَآ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى ٱلْإِنسَٰنِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَـَٔا بِجَانِبِهِۦ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ فَذُو دُعَآءٍ عَرِيضٍ

    And when We bestow favor upon man, he turns away and distances himself; but when evil touches him, then he is full of extensive supplication.

  • يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْحَمُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُقْلَبُونَ

    He punishes whom He wills and has mercy upon whom He wills, and to Him you will be returned.

  • ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَن صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ

    [But] who are heedless of their prayer -

  • عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ

    A servant when he prays?

  • قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

    He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy?"
