کوتاهی عمر دنیا در مقایسه با آخرت

منظور از توقف در روی زمین در این آیات. زندگی دنیوی و حیات پیش از مرگ است. خداوند از دوزخیان می‌پرسد: شما چند سال در روی زمین توقف کردید و آتها زندگی دنیوی خویش را در مقایسه با زندگی آخرت و نعمت‌های جاودان و مجازات‌های نامحدودش به‌قدری کردید؟ می‌گویند: یک روز یا قسمتی از یک روز. پس می‌فرماید: چه بد تجارتی کردید در یک روز با کمتر از در روایتی از پیامبر خدا(ص) می‌خوانیم: «خداوند وقتی اهل بهشت را وارد بهشت و اهل جهنم را داخل جهنم می‌کند. به اهل بهشت می‌فرماید: چقدر در زمین زندگی کردید؟ می‌گویند: یک روز با بخشی از یک روز آن [که] آتش و غضب مرا [کسب کردید]؛ پس در آن جاودانه بمانید.» کردید؛ پس در آن جاودانه بمانید. آنگاه به اهل دوزخ خطاب می‌فرماید: ای دوزخیان, چقدر در دنیا زندگی کردید؟ می‌گویند: یک روز یا قسمتی از یک روز. پس می‌فرماید: چه بد تجارتی کردید در یک روز یا کمتر از
