And they said, "Are your gods better, or is he?" They did not present the comparison except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute.

They say, ‘Are our gods better or he?’ They cite him to you only for the sake of contention. Indeed, they are a contentious lot.

And say: Are our gods better, or is he? They raise not the objection save for argument. Nay! but they are a contentious folk.

And they say, "Are our gods best, or he?" This they set forth to thee, only by way of disputation: yea, they are a contentious people.

and say, 'What, are our gods better, or he?' They cite not him to thee, save to dispute;. nay, but they are a people contentious.

و گفتند: آیا معبودان ما بهترند یا او. [ولی] آنان این مقایسه را به عنوان مثل برای تو نزدند مگر از روی جدال بی منطق و ستیزه جویی [تو معبود بودن عیسی را نپذیرفته ای]، بلکه اینان گروهی ستیزه جو [و در جدال باطل بسیار سرسخت] هستند.

و گفتند: «آیا معبودان ما بهترند یا او؟» آن [مثال‌] را جز از راه جدل برای تو نزدند، بلکه آنان مردمی جدل‌پیشه‌اند.

"Bizim tanrımız mı yoksa o mu daha iyidir?" dediler. Sana böyle söylemeleri, sadece, tartışmaya girişmek içindir. Onlar şüphesiz kavgacı bir millettir.

Dan mereka berkata: "Manakah yang lebih baik tuhan-tuhan kami atau dia (Isa)?" Mereka tidak memberikan perumpamaan itu kepadamu melainkan dengan maksud membantah saja, sebenarnya mereka adalah kaum yang suka bertengkar.

اور کہنے لگے کہ ہمارے خدا بہتر ہیں یا وہ اور لوگوں نے ان کی مثال صرف ضد میں پیش کی تھی اور یہ سب صرف جھگڑا کرنے والے تھے

এবং বলল, আমাদের উপাস্যরা শ্রেষ্ঠ, না সে? তারা আপনার সামনে যে উদাহরণ উপস্থাপন করে তা কেবল বিতর্কের জন্যেই করে। বস্তুতঃ তারা হল এক বিতর্ককারী সম্প্রদায়।
