And [yet], among the people are those who take other than Allah as equals [to Him]. They love them as they [should] love Allah. But those who believe are stronger in love for Allah. And if only they who have wronged would consider [that] when they see the punishment, [they will be certain] that all power belongs to Allah and that Allah is severe in punishment.

Among the people are those who set up compeers besides Allah, loving them as if loving Allah—but the faithful have a more ardent love for Allah—though the wrongdoers will see, when they sight the punishment, that power, altogether, belongs to Allah, and that Allah is severe in punishment.

Yet of mankind are some who take unto themselves (objects of worship which they set as) rivals to Allah, loving them with a love like (that which is the due) of Allah (only) - those who believe are stauncher in their love for Allah - Oh, that those who do evil had but known, (on the day) when they behold the doom, that power belongeth wholly to Allah, and that Allah is severe in punishment!

Yet there are men who take (for worship) others besides Allah, as equal (with Allah): They love them as they should love Allah. But those of Faith are overflowing in their love for Allah. If only the unrighteous could see, behold, they would see the penalty: that to Allah belongs all power, and Allah will strongly enforce the penalty.

Yet there be men who take to themselves compeers apart from God, loving them as God is loved; but those that believe love God more ardently. O if the evildoers might see, when they see the chastisement, that the power altogether belongs to God, and that God is terrible in chastisement,

و برخی از مردم به جای خدا معبودهایی انتخاب می کنند که آنها را آن گونه که سزاوار است خدا را دوست داشته باشند، دوست می دارند؛ ولی آنان که ایمان آورده اند، محبت و عشقشان به خدا بیشتر و قوی تر است. و اگر کسانی که [با انتخاب معبودهای باطل] ستم روا داشتند، هنگامی که عذاب را ببینند، بی تردید بفهمند که همه قدرت ویژه خداست [و معبودهای باطل، هیچ و پوچ اند] و خدا سخت کیفر است.

و برخی از مردم، در برابر خدا، همانندهایی [برای او] برمی‌گزینند، و آنها را چون دوستی خدا، دوست می‌دارند؛ ولی کسانی که ایمان آورده‌اند، به خدا محبت بیشتری دارند. کسانی که [با برگزیدن بتها، به خود] ستم نموده‌اند اگر می‌دانستند هنگامی که عذاب را مشاهده کنند تمام نیرو[ها] از آنِ خداست، و خدا سخت‌کیفر است.

İnsanlar arasında, Allah'ı bırakıp, O'na koştukları eşleri tanrı olarak benimseyenler ve onları, Allah'ı severcesine sevenler vardır. Müminlerin Allah'ı sevmesi ise hepsinden kuvvetlidir. Zalimler azabı gördükleri zaman, bütün kuvvetin Allah'a aid bulunacağını ve Allah'ın azabının şiddetli olduğunu keşke bilselerdi!

Dan diantara manusia ada orang-orang yang menyembah tandingan-tandingan selain Allah; mereka mencintainya sebagaimana mereka mencintai Allah. Adapun orang-orang yang beriman amat sangat cintanya kepada Allah. Dan jika seandainya orang-orang yang berbuat zalim itu mengetahui ketika mereka melihat siksa (pada hari kiamat), bahwa kekuatan itu kepunyaan Allah semuanya, dan bahwa Allah amat berat siksaan-Nya (niscaya mereka menyesal).

لوگوں میں کچھ ا یسے لوگ بھی ہیں جو اللہ کے علاوہ دوسروں کو اس کا مثل قرار دیتے ہیں اور ان سے اللہ جیسی محبت بھی کرتے ہیں جب کہ ایمان والوںکی تمام تر محبّت خدا سے ہوتی ہے اور اے کاش ظالمین اس بات کو اس وقت دیکھ لیتے جو عذاب کو دیکھنے کے بعد سمجھیں گے کہ ساری قوت صرف اللہ کے لئے ہے اور اللہ سخت ترین عذاب کرنے والا ہے

আর কোন লোক এমনও রয়েছে যারা অন্যান্যকে আল্লাহর সমকক্ষ সাব্যস্ত করে এবং তাদের প্রতি তেমনি ভালবাসা পোষণ করে, যেমন আল্লাহর প্রতি ভালবাসা হয়ে থাকে। কিন্তু যারা আল্লাহর প্রতি ঈমানদার তাদের ভালবাসা ওদের তুলনায় বহুগুণ বেশী। আর কতইনা উত্তম হ’ত যদি এ জালেমরা পার্থিব কোন কোন আযাব প্রত্যক্ষ করেই উপলব্ধি করে নিত যে, যাবতীয় ক্ষমতা শুধুমাত্র আল্লাহরই জন্য এবং আল্লাহর আযাবই সবচেয়ে কঠিনতর।
