بَلْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ حَتَّىٰ ﴿٢٩﴾

Translation

Saheeh International

However, I gave enjoyment to these [people of Makkah] and their fathers until there came to them the truth and a clear Messenger.

  • أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ

    How will there be for them a reminder [at that time]? And there had come to them a clear Messenger.

  • ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ ٱلسَّيِّئَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّىٰ عَفَوا۟ وَّقَالُوا۟ قَدْ مَسَّ ءَابَآءَنَا ٱلضَّرَّآءُ وَٱلسَّرَّآءُ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

    Then We exchanged in place of the bad [condition], good, until they increased [and prospered] and said, "Our fathers [also] were touched with hardship and ease." So We seized them…

    And We guided them on the straight path.

  • ءَاخِذِينَ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُحْسِنِينَ

    Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good.
