And Allah had certainly fulfilled His promise to you when you were killing the enemy by His permission until [the time] when you lost courage and fell to disputing about the order [given by the Prophet] and disobeyed after He had shown you that which you love. Among you are some who desire this world, and among you are some who desire the Hereafter. Then he turned you back from them [defeated] that He might test you. And He has already forgiven you, and Allah is the possessor of bounty for the believers.

Allah certainly fulfilled His promise to you when you were slaying them with His leave, until you lost courage, disputed about the matter, and disobeyed after He showed you what you loved. Some among you desire this world, and some among you desire the Hereafter. Then He turned you away from them so that He might test you. Certainly He has excused you, for Allah is gracious to the faithful.

Allah verily made good His promise unto you when ye routed them by His leave, until (the moment) when your courage failed you, and ye disagreed about the order and ye disobeyed, after He had shown you that for which ye long. Some of you desired the world, and some of you desired the Hereafter. Therefore He made you flee from them, that He might try you. Yet now He hath forgiven you. Allah is a Lord of Kindness to believers.

Allah did indeed fulfil His promise to you when ye with His permission Were about to annihilate your enemy,-until ye flinched and fell to disputing about the order, and disobeyed it after He brought you in sight (of the booty) which ye covet. Among you are some that hanker after this world and some that desire the Hereafter. Then did He divert you from your foes in order to test you but He forgave you: For Allah is full of grace to those who believe.

God has been true in His promise towards you when you blasted them by His leave; until you lost heart, and quarrelled about the matter, and were rebellious, after He had shown you that you longed for. Some of you there are that desire this world, and some of you there are desire the next world. Then He turned you from them, that He might try you; and He has pardoned you; and God is bounteous to the believers.

و یقیناً خدا وعده اش را [در جنگ احد] برای شما تحقّق داد، آن گاه که دشمنان را به فرمان او تا مرز ریشه کن شدنشان می کشتید، تا زمانی که سست شدید و در کارِ [جنگ و غنیمت و حفظ سنگری که محل رخنه دشمن بود] به نزاع و ستیز برخاستید، و پس از آنکه [در شروع جنگ] آنچه را از پیروزی و غنیمت دوست داشتید، به شما نشان داد [از فرمان پیامبر در رابطه با حفظ سنگر] سر پیچی کردید، برخی از شما دنیا را می خواست و برخی از شما خواهان آخرت بود، سپس برای آنکه شما را امتحان کند از [پیروزی بر] آنان بازداشت و از شما درگذشت؛ و خدا بر مؤمنان دارای فضل است.

و [در نبرد اُحد] قطعاً خدا وعده خود را با شما راست گردانید: آنگاه که به فرمان او، آنان را می‌کشتید، تا آنکه سست شدید و در کار [جنگ و بر سر تقسیم غنایم‌] با یکدیگر به نزاع پرداختید؛ و پس از آنکه آنچه را دوست داشتید [یعنی غنایم را ]به شما نشان داد، نافرمانی نمودید. برخی از شما دنیا را و برخی از شما آخرت را می‌خواهد. سپس برای آنکه شما را بیازماید، از [تعقیب‌] آنان منصرفتان کرد و از شما درگذشت، و خدا نسبت به مؤمنان، با تفضل است.

And olsun ki, Allah, size verdiği sözde durdu. Onun izniyle kafirleri kırıp biçiyordunuz, ama Allah size arzuladığınız zaferi gösterdikten sonra gevşeyip bu hususta çekiştiniz ve isyan ettiniz; sizden kimi dünyayı, kimi ahireti istiyordu; derken denemek için Allah sizi geri çevirip bozguna uğrattı. And olsun ki O, sizi bağışladı. Allah'ın inananlara nimeti boldur.

Dan sesungguhnya Allah telah memenuhi janji-Nya kepada kamu, ketika kamu membunuh mereka dengan izin-Nya sampai pada saat kamu lemah dan berselisih dalam urusan itu dan mendurhakai perintah (Rasul) sesudah Allah memperlihatkan kepadamu apa yang kamu sukai. Di antaramu ada orang yang menghendaki dunia dan diantara kamu ada orang yang menghendaki akhirat. Kemudian Allah memalingkan kamu dari mereka untuk menguji kamu, dan sesunguhnya Allah telah memaafkan kamu. Dan Allah mempunyai karunia (yang dilimpahkan) atas orang orang yang beriman.

خدا نے اپنا وعدہ اس وقت پورا کردیا جب تم اس کے حکم سے کفاّر کو قتل کررہے تھے یہاں تک کہ تم نے کمزوری کا مظاہرہ کیا اور آپس میں جھگڑا کرنے لگے اور اس وقت خدا کی نافرمانی کی جب اس نے تمہاری محبوب شے کو دکھلا دیا تھا تم میں کچھ دنیا کے طلب گار تھے اور کچھ آخرت کے- اس کے بعد تم کو ان کفاّر کی طرف سے پھیر دیا تاکہ تمہارا امتحان لیا جائے اور پھر اس نے تمہیں معاف بھی کردیا کہ وہ صاحبانِ ایمان پر بڑا فضل و کرم کرنے والا ہے

আর আল্লাহ সে ওয়াদাকে সত্যে পরিণত করেছেন, যখন তোমরা তাঁরই নির্দেশে ওদের খতম করছিলে। এমনকি যখন তোমরা ছত্রভঙ্গ হয়ে পড়েছে ও কর্তব্য স্থির করার ব্যাপারে বিবাদে লিপ্ত হয়েছে। আর যা তোমরা চাইতে তা দেখার পর কৃতঘ্নতা প্রদর্শন করেছ, তাতে তোমাদের কারো কাম্য ছিল দুনিয়া আর কারো বা কাম্য ছিল আখেরাত। অতঃপর তোমাদিগকে সরিয়ে দিলেন ওদের উপর থেকে যাতে তোমাদিগকে পরীক্ষা করেন। বস্তুতঃ তিনি তোমাদিগকে ক্ষমা করেছেন। আর আল্লাহর মুমিনদের প্রতি অনুগ্রহশীল।
